Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need to be a Tech Entrepreneur to Join?
Not at all. Our community includes freelancers, remote workers, small business owners, side-project builders, and professionals from every industry. Whether you're running a local shop, working remotely for a big company, or just starting your first project - if you value meaningful connections and peer support, you'll fit right in.
In fact, some of the best collaborations I've seen came from unexpected places. In my previous coworking space, I watched a local retail store owner help a new e-commerce founder improve their product packaging and customer experience. That's the magic of bringing diverse expertise together.
Why do you emphasize entrepreneur leadership?
While government support, investment, and institutional backing are important, they work best when following the lead of actual entrepreneurs. Instead of waiting for others to solve our challenges, we believe in organizing, supporting each other, and showing the way forward. When entrepreneurs lead, we create the community we needed when we started and help others understand how to support us effectively.
Do I Need to Leave My Current Office?
No!
This isn't about where you work, it's about who you work near. Whether you love your home office, have a coworking desk, or enjoy your corporate space, this community adds connection to your work life.
Our in-person popup coworking days (happening a few times monthly) are optional opportunities to work alongside other members, not a replacement for your primary workspace.
This community was inspired by a decade of running Guelph's first coworking space, where we learned that meaningful connections matter more than physical location.
How Much Is a Full Time Desk?
We have no desks, no offices, no physical space. That's the short answer. If you are looking for a traditional coworking style space in Guelph, checkout these:
The longer answer. ThreeFortyNine began as Guelph's first coworking space back in 2011. We were a converted two storey house. We had a nice boardroom, kitchen and room for about twenty desks. Due to a global pandemic, we slammed the doors closed abruptyly at the end of March 2020. You can view our old website here.
I Don't Get What This Is
Yes, I understand. It's early days, this is developing. If you live or work around Guelph and feel the need for a stronger 'work' community, this could be for you. The only ask from you today is to join our email list back on our homepage.
Can You Host a Coworking Day In My Space?
Possibly. If you have an office space, building, coworking space and would benefit in having me bring 20 to 50 people by to work for the day then email me directly at bg at findbrydon.com.
